Program description

Memorial University's Department of Chemistry is one of the largest in Atlantic Canada, with 23 academics, 13 permanent laboratory instructors and instructional assistants, and a number of support and research employees. Currently, around 60 graduate students work in the Department's research laboratories. The research interests of faculty members include all main subfields of chemistry, including analytical, physical, inorganic, organic, theoretical/computational, environmental/marine, and materials chemistry.

The PhD programme consists of courses, a thorough test, and a thesis that can be finished in four years of full-time study. Students who complete the programme are prepared for positions in government and industrial research, college teaching, and university research and teaching.
