Program description

Fashion Business covers collection strategy and production processes.

Participants study consumer trends and work on image, branding, and brand management. Economics, finance, retail network and distribution channels, supplier negotiation, quality control, and pricing are also discussed.

Fashion Marketing & Communication studies fashion and luxury marketing management, public relations, and advertising. Understanding people, products, and marketplaces is crucial.

Fashion Law analyzes the legal challenges of a garment's lifetime, from inception to trademark protection, including licensing, import & export, distribution and franchising agreements, intellectual property rights, and sustainability issues.

This course is for participants with previous undergraduate studies or proven job experience, ready to launch, build, or re-invigorate their own brand, start-ups, SMEs, and family businesses in the fashion, luxury, and creative industries.

Requirements for applicants

Candidates must have a sufficient command of the English or the chosen language of the course to be able to meet the requirements of the programme in every respect.

When considering the suitability of an applicant for a place on the programme the Admissions team will usually take the following factors into account:

  • three years degree or equivalent;
  • the applicant’s qualifications;
  • the information given in supporting academic references;
  • the applicant’s personal statement;
  • a portfolio of work (if appropriate to the subject).

In 1935, Milanese tailor Giulio Marangoni established Istituto, which by 1942 had evolved into the Scuola Professionale Artistica. While the school's focus was initially on educating pattern makers and seamstresses, it shifted to fashion design, product development, and marketing in the 1970s and 1980s.
