Program description

The graduate program in Data Engineering provides an interesting and in-depth look at the approaches and technology used in this rapidly increasing field.

The curriculum integrates big data features of "Data Analytics" and "Data Science" with the technological problems of data collecting, curation, and management.

Thus, the curriculum provides the foundation for a successful career by combining computer abilities and quantitative comprehension with practical experience in specific application domains. The Data Engineering program draws students with a wide range of professional objectives, backgrounds, and past job experience.

As a result, the curriculum provides four specialty tracks in which students can further specialize: computer science, geo-informatics, bio-informatics, and business and supply chain engineering. These programs serve as preparation for the Discovery Area's Advanced Projects and the Master Thesis.

Program structure

  • Computer Science Track: helps students go beyond existing toolboxes and construct their own data analysis tools.
  • Geo-Informatics Track:  GIS methods, spatial analysis, data mining, and GPS/remote sensing. It exposes students to earth science facts early on.
  • Bioinformatics Track:  Modeling high-throughput data are barriers in biomedical and pharmacological research.
  • Business & Supply Chain Engineering Track: Business operations, especially supply chains, acquire a lot of data. In this specialty, students focus on the whole data analysis cycle, including pre-processing, analysis, and model implementation.
