Oracle 10g : DBA Track

With Oracle 10g, the DBA Certification track is gets divided into 2 primary levels, as well as third is a Master-level:

  • Oracle 10g Certified Associate (OCA)
  • Oracle 10g Certified Professional (OCP)
  • Oracle 10g Certified Master (OCM)

The core Oracle 10g DBA track consists of 3 Modules: 2 for OCA, and an additional 1 for OCP.

Oracle 10g Certified Associate (OCA)

The OCA level was designed to provide for an entry-level DBA certification for the Oracle 10g platform. Information Technology professionals with no or little Oracle experience can obtain the knowledge and skills necessary to break into the lucrative and challenging Oracle profession. Which will allow candidate to participate on Oracle-related projects acting as junior-level DBAs.

The Oracle 10g Certified Associate (OCA) requires passing two exams for the following two modules:
  • Introduction to SQL
  • Administration Workshop I

Oracle 10g Certified Professional (OCP)

The OCP Level was designed for mid to senior-level DBAs with one or more years of focused Oracle DBA experience. The knowledge & skills obtained from completing this level prepares the DBA to provide DBA-related tasks right from Database Design and Development to production tasks such as Performance Tuning and Backup & Recovery.

The Oracle 10g Certified Professional (OCP) requires passing OCA level, plus one additional exams:
  • Administration Workshop II

Note: It is also possible to become an Oracle10g Certified Professional (OCP) by taking one exam: OCP Upgrade from Oracle 9i to Oracle 10g.  To qualify to become an OCP by taking this one "Upgrade" exam, you must first be an Oracle 9i Certified Professional (OCP).

Oracle 10g Certified Master (OCM)

The third level to the Oracle10g DBA Certification Track, is the OCM. generally this track is targeted by very senior level DBAs and Oracle consultants. This certification comes with ages of experience. If DBA has not spent many hours of working with & testing advanced Oracle features, then they should not even consider this level an an option.

Oracle 9i : DBA Track

With Oracle 9i, the DBA Certification track is gets divided into 2 primary levels, as well as third is a Master-level:

  • Oracle 9i Certified Associate (OCA)
  • Oracle 9i Certified Professional (OCP)
  • Oracle 9i Certified Master (OCM)

The Oracle 9i DBA track consists of 4 Modules: 2 for OCA, and an additional 2 for OCP.

Oracle 9i Certified Associate (OCA)

The OCA level was designed to provide for an entry-level DBA certification for the Oracle9i platform. Information Technology professionals with no or little Oracle experience can obtain the knowledge and skills necessary to break into the lucrative and challenging Oracle profession. Which will allow candidate to participate on Oracle-related projects acting as junior-level DBAs.

The Oracle9i Certified Associate (OCA) requires passing two exams for the following two modules:
  • Introduction to Oracle9i: SQL
  • Oracle9i Database: Fundamentals I

Oracle 9i Certified Professional (OCP)

The OCP Level was designed for mid to senior-level DBAs with one or more years of focused Oracle DBA experience. The knowledge & skills obtained from completing this level prepares the DBA to provide DBA-related tasks right from Database Design and Development to production tasks such as Performance Tuning and Backup & Recovery.

The Oracle 9i Certified Professional (OCP) requires passing the two exams in the OCA level, plus two additional exams:
  • Oracle 9i Database: Fundamentals II
  • Oracle 9i Database: Performance Tuning

Note: It is also possible to become an Oracle9i Certified Professional (OCP) by taking one exam: Oracle9i: New Features for Administrators. To qualify to become an OCP by taking this one "Upgrade" exam, you must first be an Oracle8i Certified Professional (OCP).

Oracle 9i Certified Master (OCM)

The third level to the Oracle10g DBA Certification Track, is the OCM. generally this track is targeted by very senior level DBAs and Oracle consultants. This certification comes with ages of experience. If DBA has not spent many hours of working with & testing advanced Oracle features, then they should not even consider this level an an option.

Oracle 8i : DBA Track

To become an Oracle8i Certified Professional (OCP) DBA, the certification candidate needed to pass five exams:

  • Introduction to Oracle: SQL and PL/SQL
  • Oracle 8i: Architecture and Administration
  • Oracle 8i: Backup and Recovery
  • Oracle 8i: Performance Tuning
  • Oracle 8i: Network Administration

Passing all five exams was a very challenging task, to say the very least. right from the first two exams in the track were often considered to be among the toughest. For passing 3 & 4 Exam one has to do mastery of their content, which was essential in passing. Paper no 5 was an entity of its own,(Network Administration exam) which was containing content much different from the others but Network Administration is extremely important for the DBA to perform his or her duties.
